The beginnings of cinema in Ouarzazate date back to colonial times. "The Nameless Men" would be the first film shot in Ouarzazate at the beginning of 1937. Then, "Ali Baba and the forty thieves" in 1954, then "Lawrence of Arabia", "Sodom and Gomorrah" and "One hundred thousand dollars in sun "in 1962 ...
This dynamic was followed by the establishment of cinema infrastructures which offer all the services required for world film productions: film sets, dressing rooms, workshops, outdoor sets, offices, restaurants ...
It is precisely the creation of studios Atlas in 1983 and CLA Studios in 2004.
These two structures hosted the shooting of successful films such as "The Mummy", "Gladiator", "Kingdom of Heaven", "Babel"..
The film industry in Ouarzazate is boosting the economy of the entire region. It is a driving sector for the regional development of Drâa-Tafilalet.
